April is for Artistas

For as long as I can remember, I’ve delighted in a cheeky trip to Michael’s. From picking up yarn and knitting needles after a visit to Carol’s craft closet, or dragging my Aunt after watching the latest DIY YouTube video, Michael’s has always sparked joy.

In the spirit of reconnecting with my inner child, I took a pricey walk through the enchanting aisles.

I came for the oven bake clay, but I left with oil pastels and gouache too. Then, I brought it home and started making.

Cube, Volcano (by R) and my Mushroom!

As soon as I got back from the store I sat down to make a mushroom and my signature cube. The clay was difficult to work with at this scale, but the hassle of the medium is greatly overpowered by the delight that trinkets offer.

I was initially too nervous to use the pastels and even more so the gouache, but eventually I conquered my fears

I decided to try my first painting. I’d never attempted to paint before, and honestly it was easier than I thought it would be.

So I started to gain confidence with it

So much so that I found the freedom to freestyle with it.

I’ll be the first to admit, I may have flown too close to the sun. BUT one thing I have definitely done is proven my ability to finish things.

In April, from your favorite Artista!

Ciao for now xoxo
