(I) May Just Keep on Reading

I read five books in May! Holy cow! Even though I set my yearly book goal to be 50 books (ambitious yes I know lol), reading 5 books in the month of May really just shows how possible my goal 50 books really is.

Let’s get into the books I read in May!

The Hike by Drew Magary

The first book I read was “The Hike” by Drew Magary. While it took me a while to get into this book initially, I eventually got hooked on the storyline and had a hard time putting the book down. This book was weird. It reminded me a lot of “A Short Stay in Hell” in its own twisted way. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone with a long attention span lol. 9.3/10

Everything I Know About Love -Dolly Alderton

This book was a little long winded, but a good down to earth read. The characters are familiar, and the story is a tale as old as time. This memoir offers a positive spin on a common challenge facing young women across the globe. 8.3/10

Green Frog - Gina Chung

The cover of this book made me interested in its contents. This book compiles a collection of stories from various Korean American women in different stages of life. I liked the different perspectives showcased in this book, although I wish there had been a clearer unifying theme between them. 5.8/10

“You Should Have Left” - Daniel Kehlmann

This book fits the weird eerie theme set by The Hike. This book is a quick read, and honestly takes some time to immerse the reader in the plot of the story. Though it was a page turner, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed leaving me with too many questions (and not the good kind). 7/10

The Midnight Library -Matt Haig

This is the only physical book I’ve read this year so shouts out to me for reading something I already own. This book was really good, at times it felt a little cheesy and I felt like the book could have moved faster at other times but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 6.8/10
